The Appropriate Changes Having Been Made
2017
wood, MDF, aluminium composite, sheet insulation, unfired terracotta, leftover film footage, mini projector, found and edited GIF, adhesive vinyl, found website, photo on perspex.

“The necessary changes having been made” is the rough translation of the legal term “Mutatis Mutandis”. It is used to acknowledge when two situations brought together in an analogy are not directly comparable.

The Appropriate Changes Having Been Made plays about with diachronic dissonance.

Reference points: Hitchcock’s “The Birds”, an unspecified artefact of the Humboldt forum in Berlin and its backdrop, filmed promotional material for the production of bomb-proof facades, impossible geological formations printed on adhesive vinyl, an amateur science website google-translated from Russian theorising the antediluvian world, cracking clay, an edited GIF illustrating Kelvin-Helmholtz movement.
